Military / Club Beyond, Sending Kids to Camp
Fund nine partial scholarships sending military teens to a week of Young Life camp most of them could not otherwise afford.
The need
Kid issues include poverty, corruption, hunger, and lack of resources in natural disasters. Young people are caught in the middle of this crisis. They are looking for role models and seeking answers to their suffering and needs. Many turn to gangs or prostitution for survival.
The opportunity
300,000 US teens have a parent who serves active duty in the military. This group of teenagers move an average of seven times during their school age years and are at a greater risk for substance abuse, declining school performance, and other risky behaviors including 60% higher suicide attempts than their civilian peers. Two-thirds of military kids plan to serve in the military compared to 1-in-10 adolescents in the general population who plan to serve. For military families, housing and relocation costs along with spouse unemployment / underemployment are the top contributors to their financial stress. As a result, most of our military teens (87%) cannot attend camp without a scholarship opportunity.
The plan
To provide nine partial scholarships for military teens to go to Young Life camp.

Two-thirds of military kids plan to serve in the military themselves, compared to 1 in 10 adolescents in the general population. For military families, housing and relocation costs along with spouse unemployment are the top contributors to financial stress. As a result, 87% of our military teens cannot attend camp without a scholarship.
Camp is where military teens can experience unconditional love, hear the Gospel in a relational setting, and build a faith foundation that sustains them through the unique challenges of military life.

Fund 14 new helmets and harness sets for the Woodleaf ropes course, keeping 2,500 campers and leaders safe this summer.
